The CIA was involved in another coup in a different country.

-did not want communism to spread

-conspired with the previous president to get the current (communist) leader out of power

-Truman tried to support the anti current leader groups, but people loyal to the president uncovered the plot and it failed

-Eisenhower ended up creating a secret operation for the CIA called PBSUCCESS to make Guatemala not communist

-PBSUCCESS included: making training camps surrounding Guatemala, a massive propoganda campaign, and a battle with supporters (including sending phone warnings and death threats)

-US eventually sent in troops and president fled the country, and a US supported leader took control with American interests in mind
