Early on the morning of June 4, 1942, Midway was attacked by Japanese powers. The Island of Midway is a little island just off of the American state of Hawaii. Japanese Aircraft was launched from four Japanese Aircraft Carriers. The fighters caused large damage to the Island but unknown to the Japanese American forces were stationed just to the East Island of Midway, ready for battle. Japanese Aircraft returned back to their Aircraft Carriers to refuel, and while refueling the Japanese Navy became aware of the U.S. Navy’s presence. The U.S. was the first to attack. After the U.S. torpedo fun, only one Japanese Carrier remained left, which attacked two more times bombing the USS Yorktown, leaving it severely damaged but still afloat. The USS Yorktown would engage in many little battles for the next few days. Later that day the Yorktown’s scout plane located the Hiryo (the last Japanese Aircraft Carrier left), THey sent dive bombers, and the ship was sunk. On June 7th a Japanese Sub sank the Yorktown.
