The causes are what caused the events below to occur; therefore, the events below are effects.

The events are color-coded.
The event that caused other to occur will be the same color as the event. For example, The Fugitive Slave Law is orange and at the top of the timeline. Meaning, it's a cause, and its effects are located at the bottom and are also orange.

If the event is purple, that means it is an effect from the overall issue of slavery.

If the event is green it is not an effect of slavery; however, it did affect the outcome of America, therefore affecting its laws, rules and societal beliefs towards slavery.
