The Siege of Yorktown was the last battle in the Revolutionary War. This battle was also called the German battle since there were germans in all three armies. The troop movement of the Continental Army and the French Army from New York City to Yorktown was the biggest troop movement of the war. Cornwallis is garrisoned in the town of Yorktown, and the British ships that were supposed to supply him were blocked by french ships guarding Chesapeake Bay, leading to the Battle of the Capes, which the French handily won, forcing the British ships to ditch Cornwallis. The allied armies dug in and surrounded Yorktown with defenses close enough to bombard the British with artillery. On October 11th, Washington orders for another parallel to be dug closer to the garrison. Next, after much artillery fired by the Continental Army, Alexander Hamilton leads a bayonet charge on the redoubts closest to the new trenches dug by the Americans, succeeding in taking them. Finally, on October 17th, the British finally surrendered to American forces, ending the Siege of Yorktown.
