“A date which will live in infamy” -FDR. Japanese forces launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor (US military base in Hawaii). It was a response to US oil embargos (the US had convinced many countries not to sell oil to Japan). Pearl Harbor, Dec 7. 1941: 2400 deaths. Japan knew the US was the only force able to prevent Japan from controlling the Pacific. US joins WW2.
