This party was gaining popularity throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s. It was started by the people (farmers and workers). They believed in limited immigration, graduated tax income, and direct election of senators. They also wanted bimetallism (wanted gold and silver to support currency). It was eventually absorbed into the Democratic party.
