Descrizione:
1630 - 1694
John Tillotson, an English theologian, and bishop was a prominent opponent of millenarianism. He was a leading figure in the Church of England and served as Archbishop of Canterbury from 1691 until his death. Throughout his career, Tillotson opposed millenarianism (and fifth monarchist), which was a belief in a future, earthly reign of Christ for 1,000 years, and he was critical of the apocalyptic and prophetic elements in some religious movements of the time. He argued for a more rational and practical form of Christianity, emphasizing the importance of good works and moral conduct.
