An Iranian oil concession for nearly all the oil in Iran was given to William D'Arcy, a British man. Iran received only 16% of the profits and later, the British government would take a large part in the company, becoming its largest shareholder and controlling Iranian oil through the D'Arcy Concession. This concession would also cause a lot of tensions among the Iranian citizens with their government.
