- Viewed capitalism as ok, but workers needed a larger share of the profit.
- Lunch pail issues = issues every worker cares about (wages, working conditions, hours).
- Pushed for 8 hr work day.
- It was harder to get into the AFL. Members were skilled workers (harder to replace).
- Used strikes to give leverage to workers.
