The Fall of Saigon was the Northern Vietnamese invasion of the capital of South Vietnam, which at the time was Saigon. Northern Vietnamese forces launched a invasion of South Vietnam, and were met with little resistance as without America, South Vietnam was very weak. This was important since it marked the fall of Vietnam to communism. This was what America was trying to avoid by starting the Vietnam War, and when Vietnam became communist, many feared the Domino Theory would take effect and communism would spread even further.
