Personal history: When I was 9, my family and I went to India to attend a special Hindu ceremony for my cousins, indicating that they were entering the period known as adolescence. My family and our extended family all congregated at a religious center where we welcomed the two male cousins and showered them with blessings and took part in a lovely family evening.
