Russia invades German East Prussia. Although initially successful, their messages are intercepted and become completely crushed near Tannenberg.

General von Hindenburg and his Chief of Staff Erich Ludendorff mastermind the operation, taking over 90,000 prisoners and only losing 13,000 casualties, compared to the Russian 170,000 casualties.
