The watts riots began when two policemen were trying to arrest a black motorist who was accused of drunk driving. The blacks took it the wrong way and started attacking the policemen stating this was an act of racial violence. The riots continued for 5 days and many 34 were left dead. More than 1000 people were injured and property worth $40 million doallars was destroyed. This would be first og many protests around the country in neighborhoods.
