Kate is investigating a serial killer who is stalking the L.A. streets. All the victims have a cross cut on their cheek, a mark that Angel once used while Angelus. Angel realizes that he is not the killer – it is his former protégée, Penn. When Kate goes to arrest Penn, Angel is also in pursuit – Kate finds out that Angel is a vampire.
