18 apr 1948 anni - Vocoder

Descrizione:

In 1948 Werner Myer Eppler could see the capability of the Voder machine (from 1939) to generate electronic music. He modified the device to become the Vocoder as used this device as a reference for additional studies. 20 years later Robert Moog (of Moog Synthesisers) developed one of the first solid-state musical vocoders for the electronic music studio within the university at Buffalo. Two years later (1970) he teamed up with Wendy Carlos to build another musical vocoder this time being a 10-band device inspired by the vocoder designs of Homer Dudley. Their vocoder was used in several recordings including the soundtrack to Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange in which the vocoder sang the vocal part of Beethovens “Ninth Symphony”.
