Tara has an Aha Moment in one of her earlier classes at university when they are learning about something called “bipolar” disorder. This is when you are very low energy and depressed a lot, but have huge mood swings at random. After hearing other symptoms, Tara quickly realizes that these are basically describing her dad, and makes a point of saying so in her notes. This changes how Tara views her dad’s outbursts, and her path of interest when she decides to write a big paper on how having a bipolar parent can affect a child
