8 nov 1923 anni - Beer Hall Putsch

Descrizione:

The Beer Hall Putsch, also known as the Munich Putsch, was a group who attempted to overthrow the German Government, led by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. On the 8th November 1923, they hoped to march on Berlin and overthrow the federal government. It ended a day later on the 9th, as they failed their scheme. Units of police fought with Nazi storm troopers as they marched into the city centre, killing more than a dozen of Hitler's supporters. The leaders, including Hitler, were arrested. He was convicted of high treason, and sentenced to 5 years in prison, but eventually only served 8 months before he was released.
The Putsch brought Hitler attention from the entire German Nation for the first time and in front page headlines all around the world.
After the failed putsch, Hitler realised that trying to overthrow the state by force would only lead to a military response, so he turned to politics instead.
