1 gen 1879 anni - Flemming described chromosome behavior during mitosis
Descrizione:
As an extension of discovering mitosis, a year after he did so Flemming went on to describe how the whole process of mitosis, including how chromosomes double, and how they partition into two resulting cells. Flemming was one of the first cytologists, and the first one to officially describe in detail how chromosomes move. Cell division had been studied for almost 40 years before Flemming made his discoveries, but evidence was misenterpreted. Flemmings discoveries were very significant as the terms that he used to describe his findings are still used heavily and his studies/findings are still used. All of his work formed the basis of the chromosome theory of inheritance.
