1 gen 1998 anni - Mice are cloned from somatic cells
Descrizione:
In 1998 the first cloned mice case succeeded. Due to in the previous year Dolly the sheep was produced by the nuclear transfer of somatic cells, which was the first mammal officially cloned, that same process was tried on mice. To do this they removed the nucleus from a somatic cell and injected it into and oocyte which had a removed nucleus. It was bathed in a chemical solution then heavily cultured, this growing embryo was then moved to a mother where it went on to develop. The cloning was pivitoly successful as the mice survived. This cloning helped largely in the development of the field and understanding of how cloning works. As the mice cloning was only the second mammal cloning many were to follow, some of these include; cattle, dogs, domestic cats, goats, rats, horses and more.
