Who: 19 hijackers who were associated with Islamic extremists groups. Osama Bin Laden leader of al-QaedaWhat: On September 11th at 9:45am a Boeing 757 crashed into the west side of the Pentagon military headquarters. Less than 15 minutes later another 757 crashed into the South tower at the World Trade Center and it collapsed. At 10:30am the North tower collapsed from another plane impact. A fourth plane crashed into a rural field near Shanksville Pennsylvania at 10:10am.
Where: Washington DC, New York, Shanksville Pennsylvania, and Boston were where the planes were boarded, hijacked and crashed.
Why: Al-Qaeda hoped that, by attacking these symbols of American power, they would promote widespread fear throughout the country and severely weaken the United States
When: September 11 2001 aprox. 9:45am, 10am, 10:15am, 10:45am
