The US was able to break Florida from Britain's control even though it was one of the closest states to Britain which, as context clues point to Britain made a big fight for this state but eventually gave it away. This was all due to the Adam's-Onís treaty. A result to the end of the First seminole war which would be the first of three wars that would greatly affect the way that modern day Florida is run and is running. All because the first goner of Florida fought against the seminoles and won, which is how Florida was able to become separate from Britain in the first place. But, it took a while for the small territory of the south-west to become the state it is known as today. At first it wasn't even big enough to become a state. But eventually Florida got more and more people coming to visit it and some even staying. Then, eventually the population was big enough for Florida to be considered a state.
