The CIA would go to Iran in order to stage anti-Mossadeq demonstrations. These demonstrations would lead to the eventual downfall of Mossadeq, and would allow the U.S. to replace him with a prime minister who was loyal to the Shah and did not oppose American influence within the region. However, the Shah was a brutal autocrat who cared more about himself than his actual people. His actions would be sanctioned by the U.S. Many Americans would later on forget about what happened in Iran, but many Iranians would not. Resentment towards the U.S. would brew even more, because of the Shah's entrance influenced by the U.S.
