The Boston Massacre began when a British soldier fired his weapon at a group of colonists who were verbally abusing and throwing objects at nine soldiers standing outside the Customs House. A large group of colonists quickly formed and five colonists were shot. The Boston Massacre united colonists and increased their desire for independence.
