D-Day, or the Normandy Invasion was one of the largest events in World War 2. This has been the largest invasion force in history. The plan was for the forces of the Allies to invade the beaches of Normandy, France, and to begin freeing parts of Europe from Hitler's rule. This was successful, and marked the beginning of Hitler's downfall.
