28 feb 2021 anni - Chapter 20

Descrizione:

In chapter 20, Bruno's father finds out that Bruno has gone missing. He really shows his affection for his son in this chapter, and is filled with hatred at the other Nazis, even though they were not responsible. Bruno's mother misses him terribly, and starts unpacking to wait for her son, who, sadly, will not be returning. As for Gretel, she is very sad that she has lost her brother, and despite their differences, misses him very much. As Bruno's father looks for his son, he finds the spot where Bruno and Shmuel sat and talked every day, which saddens him, to see the spot where his son was last seen. The Moral of this whole story was that everyone deserves to be treated equally, because we are all human, and no human should ever be considered superior to another. This really stuck out to me because Bruno was this young innocent boy, who just met a new friend. This new Friend wasn't a Jew, or a boy in a concentration camp, and although Shmuel knew he was, Bruno never saw him this way. He just saw Shmuel as a friend that he could talk with, and laugh with. In the end, even when Bruno did find out about Shmuel, it didn't even change his opinion about him. Shmuel was human, and it didn't matter where he came from, and never should.
