- Trotsky and Kamenev were arrested
- Lenin fled to Finland which damaged his reputation
- Kerensky destroyed Bolshevik offices and printing equipment
- The Provisional Government emerged victorious and appeared stronger than they actually were
- However, the Bolsheviks were able to survive the riots and Lenin and Trotsky were able to resolve their differences
- Also the failure led to Trotsky developing effective strategies which would enable him to take power in October
- The July days also highlighted the necessity of organisation in order to have a successful revolution
- Bolsheviks realised they needed to obtain national support
