King George, in the context of the American Revolution was an ignorant and despicable ruler who had no empathy for the Colonists. He was accused of denying the rights of the Colonists as British citizens and taxing them without consent. In return the Colonies protested against direct rule and began to form self-governing provinces. Armed conflict between the British and the Patriots began. The Olive Branch Partition was sent to the crown in order to prevent full on conflict and was subsequently ignored.
