5 marzo 1953 anni - Death of Stalin (+Life)

Descrizione:

After becoming Leader of the Soviet Union in 1924, Joseph Stalin reigned for almost 30 years, and is now widely considered to be one of the most powerful people of the 20th century. After becoming such a significant figure, Stalin died suddenly in 1953, something which resulted in massive effects over both the Soviet Union and the Cold War, and is often seen as the beginning of the end for the Soviet Union. Joseph Stalin Born to a poor family in Gori, Georgia, which was then part of the Russian Empire, Joseph Stalin was often brutishly beaten by his drunken father. After escaping this relationship. Stalin eventually joined the Marxist Russian Social Democratic Labour Party, and wrote in it's newspaper. Joseph Stalin actually raised funds for Vladimir Lenin's Bolshevik faction through robberies, kidnappings and protection rackets. He was arrested many times, being exiled to Siberia on multiple occasions. After the October Revolution where the Bolshevik's seized power and became a one-party state under the Communist Party in 1917, Stain joined its governing ranks, overseeing the Soviet Union's establishment in 1922. After Lenin's death in 1924, Stalin assumed leadership, and introduced many changes as the country underwent agricultural collectivisation and rapid industrialisation.

Over Stalin's rule of 30 years, the Soviet Union saw rapid industrialization, transforming the Soviet Union from a feudal economy into a industrial power. He did this through many ways, but it also resulted in the deaths of millions of people, whether it was from famine, execution or more. One of Stalin's greatest accomplishments was the crucial role he played in the defeat of Hitler, as well as succeeding in the development of the Atomic bomb. Stalin left an unmatched legacy, and his death is often seen as the beginning of the end of the Soviet Union. While many mourned his death, many also celebrated, as an era of terror, murder, brutality and mass imprisonment was finally over, and Stalin's eventual successor Nikita Khrushchev would start a De-Stalinization process, and result in a wave of political reforms across the Soviet Union. Stalin's death was also significant to the Cold War, and actually led to a temporary thaw in Cold War tensions, expressing the magnitude of this event.
