During the Late Sasanian Turmoil, the Sassanid Shahs' power become more and more weakness, the frontier fallen into lots of revolts and warlords, palace coup often launched by the generals and nobals, and the Shah deposed and changed frequently.

Year 791, Qarinvand nobal and general Vandad Hormozd launched a success palace coup against the Wuzurg framadar Sharwin, killed Shah Bahram VII whom been put on the throne by Sharwin and enthroned the Shah's younger bother, Ardashir; and Vandad Hormozd then become new Wuzurg framadar.
