1 gen 1866 anni - Black Codes

Descrizione:

Black Codes were laws that favored the White population. Here PBS.org (10) conveys the message of these biased laws, "Immediately after the Civil War ended, Southern states enacted "black codes" that allowed African Americans certain rights, such as legalized marriage, ownership of property, and limited access to the courts, but denied them the rights to testify against whites, to serve on juries or in state militias, vote, or start a job without the approval of the previous employer. These codes were all repealed in 1866 when Reconstruction began," (PBS 1). These codes are just another example of corrupt and racist ideas existing within America, due to the ideas instilled during slavery.

(10) PBS is a T.V. program distributor, and also a public broadcasting company for the U.S.
