9 lugl 1868 anni - 14th Amendment adopted
Descrizione:
The 14th Amendment further addressed questions of citizenship and the rights of states. Under this division, citizenship was granted to all persons born or naturalized in the United States and declared that no state could deprive any person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law. Furthermore, it had declared that states did not have the power to deny someone equal protection of the laws. The 14th Amendment is significant because it granted more equal rights and responsibilities for African Americans. This was another decision made that would affect future actions taken in regard to equality between races and civil rights.
