The Gettysburg Address was a speech delivered by Abraham Lincoln in which he intended to honor the fallen Union soldiers and reminded the people of the purpose of the Civil War. The speech had only lasted 2 minutes, but its contents are regarded as highly significant to this day. The speech had encouraged the Union to remain steadfast in their efforts and to acknowledge the challenge they were given. It is also significant because of the length of the speech, which was out of the ordinary at the time, but was respectable and addressed the state of the Union's efforts.
