30 magg 1854 anni - Kansas Nebraska Act/Bleeding Kansas
1854-1861
Descrizione:
The Kansas-Nebraska Act was passed on May 30, 1854. Its purpose was to allow the Kansas and Nebraska territories to decide whether they wanted to be a free or slave state using popular sovereignty. But around two years later, Kansas became a land of violence with reoccurring fights between pro and anti slavery units. The Pottawatomie Massacre and the Marais Des Cygnes Massacre are examples of the violent disputes that took place, giving Kansas it's nickname "Bleeding Kansas".
