This was significant because it meant that Archaic Greece spread across the world. It meant that new ideas spread to and from Greece , and the Greeks built a powerful trade empire. It created peninsulas for city states to settle on, and Greeks grew rich from looting foreign cities. The Greeks established over 500 colonies, which made the Archaic Greeks a much more significant and powerful empire.
