The Shang Dynasty was founded around 1600 BC, when the evil king of the legendary Xia was overthrown by a righteous man named Cheng Tang.

This is a significant event because it overthrows a dynasty that has lasted for centuries, and begins a dynasty that will last for even longer. It starts a dynasty of new inventions, expanding of empire, the start of a Bronze age and begins a less cruel dynasty then the one before it, with King Tang abolishing the oppressive policies that were used under the Xia dynasty. He instituted governance and policies, that, instead of working for a tyrannical ruler, worked for the people. Tang also lowered the taxes that were incredibly high under the rule of Jie (Last ruler of the Xia dynasty).
