Dakota troops surround the town, The battle quickly moves into the town. The dakota attack the defenders by shooting at them through doors and windows. Little Crow’s troops begin to set fire to some of the buildings close to the river. The smoke causes people to get panicky and nervous. After many hours of fighting and defending the town, The defenders make one big charge at the dakota. They were so desperate they set their own building that the dakota were using for cover.
