Edward Drinker Cope unearths two vertebral fragments belonging to Tyrannosaurus. Cope names his new ceratopsid dinosaur Manospondylus gigas, meaning "giant porous vertebra", referencing the fenestrae allowing blood vessels to pass through the spine.
