Henry Sibley goes up the Minnesota River and stops at Lone Tree Lake (accidentally called Wood Lake) where his forces camp. A group of soldiers looking for breakfast the next morning find a group of Dakota preparing to attack the camp, and the following battle results in the Dakota’s defeat.
