1 ottob 1147 anni - 2nd Battle of Dorylaeum

Descrizione:

The German Crusaders, led by Conrad III, faced heavy opposition during their march through Anatolia and the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum. A series of clashes near Dorylaeum saw Conrad lose up to 18,000 of his 20,000 strong army, forcing him to withdraw back to Nicaea and link up with the French. Louis VII and Conrad then proceeded to advance around the southern coastline, as the Anatolian interior was deemed far too dangerous to traverse. The Germans alleged that treacherous Byzantine guides had purposely led them into the ambush, which succeeded in souring relations between the Greeks and Crusaders.
