1 gen 1808 anni - Model of the atom: Elements (Dalton)
Descrizione:
Dalton's Model of an atom was a 2 part theory expanding upon what Democritus had hypothesized well over 1000 years ago. This theory was to describe matter in terms of its properties and atoms. His first prediction was the same as Democritus'. He states that all matter is made up of indivisible atoms and states in the second part that each atom has designated an element to go along with it.
The technology enabling this discovery was due to an earlier experiment in 1803 when Dalton combined oxygen with nitric oxide in vessels over water. So to put it simply Dalton utilized gas experiments to prove his theory.
This theory by Dalton was the first improvement we had to the atom in over 1000 years and was and still is an essential stone to leap on for the knowledge we know about the atom today.
