1 nov 1961 anni - Military-Industrial Complex Speech

Descrizione:

The Military-Industrial Complex Speech was a farewell address of President Dwight D. Eisenhower warning "against the establishment of a 'military-industrial complex'."

A military-industrial complex is a "network of individuals and institutions involved in the production of weapons and military technologies," which creates political support and increasing military budget by the national government.

Eisenhower warned against the military-industrial complex because it would "endanger our liberties or democratic processes." In his speech, he argues that disarmament is a necessity, adding that "Together we must learn how to compose differences, not with arms, but with intellect and decent purpose... As one who has witnessed the horror and the lingering sadness of war... I wish I could say tonight that a lasting peace is in sight."
