The Treaty of Versailles formally ended World War One between the former German Empire and the Entente Powers. Changes of particular note were the loss of Alsace to France and Eupen Malmedy to Germany, Posnan and Danzig being ceded to an independent Poland, Germany accepting blame in totality for the First World War, crippling war indemnities, and the forced limitation of Germany's armed forces to 100,000 men. These efforts, along with the Treaty of Trianon, which imposed similar terms to Hungary, Neuilly-sur-Seine, which applied to Bulgaria, Saint Germain-en-laye, which applied to Austria, and the Treaty of Sevres which applied the Ottoman Empire, all caused immense resentment, although in Germany this was not felt immediately.
