Met during the fighting of Lexington and Concord. They attempted to pacify the British and declare allegiance to the crown, with the Olive Branch Petition which was a last attempt to avoid war. Simultaneously working to raise a continental army through conscription as well as appoint generals and ambassadors (appointing Washington as Commander and Chief of the Continental Army).
