1 gen 1054 anni - Excommunication of Churches on Both Sides
Descrizione:
The over-500-year feud between the Eastern and Western halves of the Church finally ruptures when the irascible Cardinal Humbert (representing Pope Leo IX, who had died unbeknownst to Humbert) excommunicates Cerularius, Patriarch of Constantinople. Patriarch Cerularius in turn excommunicates Humbert and his accompanying papal legates. The two Churches (plural)—Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic—remain severed in fellowship to this day, although the excommunications were annulled on both sides in 1965 during the 2nd Vatican Council (Vatican II).
The W. and E. Church have been feuding for over 500 years, and finally the Cardinal Humbert excommunicated the Patriarch of Constantinople, Cerularius. In turn Cerularius also excommunicates Humbert, and all his papal legates
