Due to the bloodshed and violence in the Children's crusades and events in Brimingam protests, the President John F. Kennedy proposed what would later be the Civil Rights Act of 1964. After the many debates and controversy from the mention of this act, it was eventually accepted on July 2, 1964. The law guaranteed equal voting rights to all citizens, removing former registration requirements. Segregation in public places was prohibited, and discrimination of any sort was prohibited by anyone doing business with the federal government.
