Pearl Harbor is the name of the US naval base that lay near Honolulu, Hawaii that would undergo a surprise attack by Japanese forces. Just before 8 a.m, they were able to destroy nearly 20 US naval vessels, including 8 battleships and 300 airplanes. This attack alone would cause the deaths of 2,400 Americans on the Pacific front. Only a day later, President Franklin D. Roosevelt would declare war on Japan.
