The Little Rock min was a group of nine black student whose had decided to go to an entirely white high school in Arkansas. Their goal was to put the newer laws dealing with segregation to the test to see if they would actually protect them and their fellow African Americans. However, on the first day of classes the governor called in the national guard to block their entry into the school. This was truly astounding as the Supreme Court ruling of Brown v Board of education was established not to long before. Eisenhower later sent in federal troops to escort the kids into the school. This problem was extremely important because it really brought to light how useless the civil rights laws had become.
