With the United States getting more involved in European affairs and many European countries fearing their sovereignty, The United States, France, the United Kingdom, and nine other European countries founded a peacetime military alliance called The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). This event is significant because it unified Western nations against the Soviet Union and Soviet-controlled regions.
