Allies decode Japanese message to attack midway island. The US is outgunned by the Japanese, but the US with Nimitz leading again is able to intercept Japanese communications with code hackers and defend the island. Japan lost 4 carriers and 250 planes.
Significance - Japan abandoned its plan to expand its reach in the Pacific, and the US increased American troop moral and confidence. This strongly turned the tide of war.
