The act of Supremacy accepted Henry as the “Protector and Supreme Head of the English Church and Clergy”. It represented a decisive break from papal authority and the Roman Catholic Church. Against Henry’s intentions however,it also opened the door for the infiltration of Protestant sympathizers.
